CHA is only a couple weeks away and the prep is at mach speed....
New products are rolling in every day....samples for the booth are underway, this show i am able to push a few boundaries...go a little bit more mixed media, and boy-o-boy am i loving it.
PLayed with the new LuminArte Silks over the weekend, they are an amazing acrylic glaze with incredible colors and incredible shimmer of course! (if you hop on over to the Luminarte blog, there is a surprise or two for you wink wink) I spent the past weekend with my friend Leslie the creator of Luminarte and all of its lovlies...Betsy Roberts, and incredible gourd artist and Jill Walker also an incredible gourd artist. I learned sooo much from these ladies! A special Thank you to Betsy for opening her home and studio to us!
after i painted several coats of Silks on my mannequin, i constructed a birdcage skirt from bailing wire....i got some agression out by hammering the bailing wire nice and flat( i think it looks a bit more artsy that way)
after the wires were flattened i drilled holes into the mannequin all the way around her and secured them i woven a vintage bronze wired all the way around the skirt creating the finished "birdcage" look....then dug through Betsy's treasures for loads of goodies to hang from the skirt.
for a finishing touch Betsy gave me a pair of wings....true bird wings to attach to the back of my angel. She will be on display at CHA booth 1657
I love your mannequin! She has such personality! Since she will be on display, have you thought about giving her a name?
